Vladimir Putin and Sergey Sobyanin opened the main section of the Moscow High-Speed Diameter

The Moscow High-Speed Diameter (MHSD) — is the longest traffic-free high-speed diameter in Russia (68 km). On September 10, the President of Russia Vladimir Putin and the Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin have opened a section of the MHSD from Yaroslavskoye to Dmitrovskoye Highway.

The main section of the MHSD is completely without traffic lights from the M-11 to M-12 Highway. It connects the northern and eastern districts of the city and connects the major highways of the city – the Moscow Automobile Ring Road, Enthusiasts, Izmailovskoe, Shchelkovskoe, Otkrytoe, Yaroslavskoe, Altufyevskoe and Dmitrovskoe Highway.

The section provides access to 15 large Moscow streets and passes through 26 districts of Moscow with a population of more than 2.5 million people.

«The President of Russia and the Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin opened the main section of the Moscow High-Speed Diameter. Thanks to it, the average travel time for citizens of adjacent areas will decrease by 20% when traveling by public transport and 17% when traveling by private cars», — noted Maksim Liksutov, the Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Transport.

The MHSD is a highway, first of all, for Moscow citizens and citizens of the region. The road will be a quick way for Moscow citizens to move around the capital — just 40 minutes on the way from south to north.

Moscow and the Moscow region citizens will drive through the MHSD for free. From January 1, 2023, the passage along the MHSD will be paid for transit cars — this measure is necessary to protect Moscow citizens from additional traffic of transit cars.
