Maksim Liksutov, the Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Transport, announced that Krasnogvardeyskiy international bus terminal would be opened in Moscow by the end of 2022 or the beginning of 2023.
The terminal will replace a bus station, since the growth of bus traffic requires a full-fledged bus terminal. According to Maksim Liksutov, it is expected that 2.5 thousand passengers will use Krasnogvardeyskiy bus terminal every day. Passengers will be able to travel to cities in the south, southeast, and southwest of Russia, as well as to neighboring countries.
Maksim Liksutov outlines that, over the past 10 years, Moscow has significantly improved its intercity bus services. Now there are 4 modern and convenient bus terminals in the city that provide travel opportunities to various destinations such as nearest cities, remote regions and abroad. There are 172 destinations in total, including St. Petersburg, Nizhny Novgorod, Minsk and Vitebsk (Belarus). Before the COVID-19 restrictions, there were also buses to Latvia, Finland and Germany. Since the beginning of the year, 2.5 million Moscow citizens have already used Moscow bus terminals and stations.
All terminals have comfortable waiting rooms, baby care rooms, baggage storage rooms, free Wi-Fi, vending machines, cafes, charging stations and information desks. The infrastructure is fully adapted for passengers with disabilities. There are specially equipped ticket offices, elevators and bathrooms.
«Today, intercity and international buses are yet another convenient, safe and reliable option for traveling between the capital and cities», – said Maksim Liksutov, the Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Transport.
To further improve the service, this year the management of bus terminals was transferred to the Moscow Metro. Since then, the number of carriers has also grown with 22 new companies that have signed the contracts.
