Today the major surface transport operator of Moscow, Mosgortrans, launched the 450 th electric bus. Now there are more electric buses in the Mosgortrans fleet than in any other city in Europe.
The manufacturer of this electric bus is KAMAZ PJSC. Since 2018, the company has delivered 334 electric buses to Mosgortrans. Under life-cycle service contracts, KAMAZ and other manufacturers are responsible for the full functionality of the vehicles during 15 years of their operation.
The innovative transport appeared in the capital in 2018 and since then the rolling stock has been updated with large deliveries of electric buses. So, in 2020, 150 e-buses arrived in Moscow, another 150 will be delivered by the end of the year. It is planned that by 2024 the total number of electric buses in Moscow will exceed 2,600 units — it is 1/3 of all surface transport in the city.
Today electric buses run on 36 routes almost throughout the whole Moscow. The number of routes will continue to grow as new vehicles are delivered.
