The number of trucks in the residential areas reduces

The share of trucks on the roads of three Moscow districts has decreased by up to 3 times after introducing the Moscow Cargo Framework.

«We analyze how much the number of trucks has reduced in the three residential districts where the Moscow Cargo Framework was introduced in August 2020. The share of trucks in the car flow decreased by up to 3 times. It mostly decreased in the Central District, and in the Western and the North-Western Districts it is 1.85 times and 1.1 times less respectively. The residents of these districts also notice it — now we receive fewer noise complaints,» — noted the Moscow Traffic Control Center.

In these three districts, the cargo framework was introduced in August 2020. Thus, it became effective on the whole territory of Moscow within the Moscow Ring Road. Residents note the positive effect and ask to include their streets of residence in the freight-free zone.

73% of residents support the introduction of the cargo framework, 62% believe that it will improve the environment in residential areas, and 61% expect noise level reduction in residential areas," — added the Moscow Traffic Control Center.

The Moscow Cargo Framework is the division of city districts into two zones — areas of residence, where freight traffic is restricted, and street and road network, where trucks can move without restrictions. Access to the residential zone is allowed only with special documents.
