Moscow Buses Transported 40 000 Medical Workers for free

For 8 months, the Mosgortrans Customized Transportation Service has been providing free buses for transporting medical personnel to work and recovered patients to their homes to support medical institution during COVID-19.

Usually, the Customized Transportation Service works with low-mobility passengers to assist in visiting cultural events, sports centers and hospitals on specially equipped social taxis. The service did not work during the lockdown. At this time, in cooperation with the city’s hospitals, the service began to transport medical staff to work, and recovered patients to their homes. For this, buses and minibuses were allocated.

The service continues to work now — in a day, Mosgortrans transports almost 300 medical workers and more than 60 recovered patients. In total, since April 2020, employees of the service have transported about 57 000 people, of which more than 40 000 are medical workers.

All safety measures are observed: the seats on the buses are at a distance, the cabins are regularly disinfected, passengers are provided with masks, gloves, sanitizers, and drivers are regularly tested for COVID-19.

Moreover, some of the drivers who previously worked with low-mobility passengers switched to work on ambulances at hospitals. By order of the Mayor of Moscow, the Service purchased 305 vehicles equipped with everything necessary to work on calls. The drivers were retrained and started working in hospitals.
