Moscow Metro’s on-surface suburban D2 Line to have 3 new stations by the end of 2021

The city continues to improve the on-ground commuter metro line launched in 2019.

Moscow Central Diameters (MCD), an on-surface metro project, is going to have three new stations opened on D2 Line launched in 2019. The brand new stations are expected to be finished in 2021 and will be integrated into the existing underground metro lines.

The Maryina Roscha station will be connected with Lines 10, 11 and D4 (expected to be launched by 2024); Pechatniki – with Lines 10 and 11; Schukinskaya will replace the existing Pokrovskoe-Streshnevo station and will be connected with Line 7.

“We are actively developing the “transport framework” of Moscow. Construction is also underway on the existing MCD routes. Three new modern stations on the D2 will improve the transport accessibility of six Moscow’s districts with more than 600 thousand residents. New stations will be in demand, among other things, due to convenient interchanges to the Metro. We expect that the daily passenger traffic of Schukinskaya station will be 12.8 thousand people, Pechatniki – 11 thousand, Maryina Roscha – 15 thousand,” – says Moscow’s Deputy Mayor for Transport Maxim Liksutov.

Moscow Central Diameters (MCD) are new surface Metro lines launched in November 2019. The new transport is completely integrated in Moscow’s transport system, including ticketing, design and quality standards. As for today, two lines have been launched. D1 Line linked cities of Odintsovo and Lobnya, D2 Line – Nakhabino and Podolsk through the centre of Moscow. By 2025, three more lines are expected to open.
