In February, the ridership of Moscow Metro exceeded 6 million people, which is the largest figure since October 2020, said Roman Latypov, First Deputy CEO of the network, at a UITP webinar.
Muscovites and residents of Moscow Region return to public transport as pandemic restrictions are gradually being lifted. According to the city’s Department of Transport, the fastest recovering transport is MCD (Moscow Central Diameters, suburban on-surface metro): its ridership recovered by almost 90%. Since February 1, it had 10.3 million passengers, 1.5 million less than year ago.
Another topic Mr. Latypov addressed at the webinar was MaaS (Mobility as a Service) concept.
Together with UITP experts, we are working on the implementation of MaaS: payment integration, personalization of transport services. We continue to develop infrastructure: if we keep the focus on it and service for passengers, and add MaaS, transport will become even more convenient and attractive, — Roman Latypov.
Moscow continues to develop its digital and payment services. In the end of 2020, Moscow Metro presented personalized Troika card: personal account in the Moscow Metro app with balance management and top-up options.
