Moscow Metro and Russian Post to launch a joint service

Moscow Metro is planning to install 90 parcel lockers in passages of 69 stations, reports the city’s Department for Transport. Russian national postal operator Russian Post won the auction that took place on 11 March.

The Department refers to the experience of global metro systems including London, Tokyo, Barcelona, Beijing and Seoul and notes that the rise of e-commerce makes the service more relevant. The authority also explains that the project will contribute to the growth of non-ticket revenues similarly to vending machines and ATMs that are already present on the underground network.

Previously, Moscow Metro had launched a power bank rental project. The service is currently available at 50 stations and is expected to expand to 100 units.
