Moscow Metro’s MCD shows record number of passengers

The Moscow Central Diameters’ ridership exceeds pre-pandemic figures.

On 29 March, the Moscow Central Diameters’ ridership exceeded 575 thousand passengers, which is the record daily figure for the entire period of its operation, reports the city’s Department of Transport. The pre-pandemic record number amounted to 568 thousand.

«Yesterday, 254 thousand people used D1 Line and 321 thousand used D2 Line; the ridership grew by 10% just in one week. Not only is MCD the first to completely restore ridership after the pandemic, it has also set a new record, once again showing its importance for the residents of Moscow and Moscow Region,» — said Maxim Liksutov.

Earlier, Moscow Metro had reported record number of rides on the week of 22-27 March: more than 7 million people used Metro on working days, which is the highest figure since the beginning of the pandemic. According to the Department of Transport, Metro’s ridership has restored by 80%, the pace of recovery being most fast near railway stations, large enterprises and shopping malls.
