Moscow Metro reports results of reconstruction that has been carried out at Smolenskaya station (Line 3). Since the start of works in February 2020, the station had escalators replaced (the previous ones have been in exploitation since 1953), the network also updated communications, strengthened structures and repaired service premises.
«The reconstruction of Smolenskaya is 85% complete, and the entrance hall is currently being restored. We have already installed new modern escalators which will be more comfortable for passengers and 30% more energy efficient. Smolenskaya will become the 17th metro station in the last 10 years, where escalators have been completely updated. And by 2024, we plan to replace the escalator complexes at 6 more stations», — says Deputy Mayor for Transport Maxim Liksutov.
