Moscow to integrate trams and suburban railways in the Unified Operations Control Centre

According to Moscow’s Department of Transport, by the end of the year, all Moscow trams will be controlled by the Unified Operations Control Centre. It is also planned to integrate all suburban railway transport in the dispatch system.

«We respond faster and eliminate any incidents, it affects passengers’ travel time. Thanks to the OCC, we save more than 100 hours of incident management every year. We see all the Metro, MCC and MCD trains online. <...> All of this will allow us to inform passengers as quickly as possible about any important changes in operations or schedule of Metro, MCC, MCD and soon — trams and suburban railways», — says Deputy Mayor for Transport Maxim Liksutov.

Moscow Metro launched the Unified Operations Control Centre (OCC) in 2019. One of the largest in the world, it ensures safety and reliability with the help of artificial intelligence and other digital tools. Now, 700 people work in the Centre in four shifts. Over the last few years, OCC reduced the emergency response by 2.5 times in Metro and 3 times in MCC and MCD.
