First competition of Moscow e-bus driver’s masters was held in Russia

Mosgortrans as the main operator of urban surface public transport improves and initiates opportunities for up-skilling the drivers’ profession and thus its attractiveness. It further contributes to an improvement of health and safety of professional drivers and an improvement of the performance of the companies regarding the reduction of environmental pollution, the reduction of accidents and other benefits related to improving the quality and the professionalism of the drivers.

During competitions and other similar events, drivers are given the chance to upgrade and diversify skill level and qualification. Their professional mobility is facilitated and their career prospective enhances. The impact on investment in training and return on investment, financing of training and the quality of training is a subject of social dialogue. 

Moscow bus drivers constantly demonstrate their professional skills at federal and international venues. Mosgortransemployees have already won prizes at similar championships – in St. Petersburg in 2017 and 2021, in Berlin in 2018. Recently, the 55th anniversary competition of professional skills was held in the capital, where bus drivers showed their best results.Professional training requirements and yearly competitions arebeing recognized as investment, not as a cost.

The organizers of the 1st e-bus driver’s competition called Moscow Masters are the Moscow City Trade Union of Road Transport and Road Management Workers, the Department of Transport and Development of Road Transport Infrastructure of the city of Moscow and Mosgortrans.

Competition rounds included two check points. Starting fromtheoretical knowledge of the traffic rules, followed by a roundof checking the practical skills of each electric bus driver on KAMAZ-6282.

All drivers performed maneuvers that showed the level of professional skill. Competitions in high-speed driving skills (high-speed maneuvering) included 8 figures and demonstrationof the charging session. Participants showed the installation of electric vehicles under the dome of the charging mast and a charging session for a while.

7 teams from 7 branches of Mosgortrans were presented by 21 drivers: 19 men and 2 women. In fact, more than 1,000 electric bus drivers are work in Mosgortrans now and 250 of them are women. The best drivers who completed all the tasks and showed the best time were awarded.

The Moscow electric bus is the best example of a combination of world trends, modernity and awareness. Our priority task is to increase the prestige of the profession of an electric transport driver. We are constantly improving the working conditions for our employees. They also note positive changes — more and more drivers are switching to work on electric transport. Such tournaments not only increase the prestige of the driver's profession, but also attract attention to the issues of improving the ecology of the City - Maksim Liksutov – Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Transport.
