The Moscow Department of Transport has issued special Troika smart cards dedicated to the Green Bonds project.
Funds from the sale of bonds are referred to the development of eco-friendly transport: construction of the Moscow Metro, reconstruction of old stations, purchase of e-buses. This eco-card is a must-have item for everyone who sorts waste, pours coffee in a thermos and cares about ecology in different ways.
Thanks to the Troika smart card we have reduced the issue of the paper tickets by 6 times. This allowed us to reduce the environmental damage equal to 2 thousand trees annually. Moreover, according to the Moscow authorities, replacing one diesel bus with an e-bus reduces CO2 emissions in average by 60.5 tons per year. The launch of the new metro sections in 2023 will decrease the number of cars in the city by 10 thousand more. It will lead to the reduction of emission of pollutants by 885.5 tons per year.
The design of the card includes a special QR-code which leads to a landing page of the Green Bonds project. Moscow has released 7 thousand cards in total.
In May 2021 the green bonds have been placed on the Moscow Exchange for the first time. They have already been used to build a new station of the Big Circle Line.
