The 400th Vityaz tram entered the service

The 400th Vityaz tram entered the service on route 6 in Moscow. It runs from Sokol metro station to Bratzevoin the northern part of the Moscow, reports the Moscow Department of Transport.

The Department specified that nine more Vityaz tramsrun on this route. They have replaced the models of the previous generation. Now there are 409 Vityaz cars in Moscow, making up more than half of the city’s fleet. By the end of 2022, 55 more three-section modern trams will appear in the capital.

Vityaz trams are equipped with mobile chargers, bicycle, wheelchair and baby carriage bindings, updated climate control system, larger information boards, they have 70 seats instead of 60 and wider aisles. The exterior design has also changed, the cars now have a contour lighting along the body and the logo, explained the Department.

«Tram is an environmentally friendly and efficient urban transport, and one of the favorites among Moscow citizens. Four years ago, the first Vityaz tramentered the service, today the city has more than 400 trams. On behalf of the Moscow Mayor, we will continue to replenish the fleet with new cars, so by the end of 2023 only modern low-floor trams that are convenient for all passengers will work in Moscow», — said Maksim Liksutov, the Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Transport.

Earlier, Maksim Liksutov announced the launch of a joint project of an unmanned tram with the Yandex company. At first, the driverless tram will go only around the depot, then around the city, but without passengers. «We will test the unmanned tram as long as necessary, there is no hurry in this matter, wealways prioritize people's safety», — concludedMaksim Liksutov.
