The closure of the summer navigation at the Northern River Terminal

Summer river navigation was closed at theNorthern River Terminal in Moscow last Saturday, on November 13. It was the first time the navigation was launched at the Terminal after its state-of-the-art reconstruction. During this summer season that lasted from the 24th of April until the 13th of November, ships arrived and departed from the berths of the Northern River Terminal more than 900 times. In total, the berths of the Northern River Station received and sent more than 700 thousand passengers. Moscow citizens went on cruise trips to the prominent cities of Russia like St. Petersburg, Yaroslavl, Astrakhan, Rostov-on-Don and others. Moscow has returned a significant transport facility to 38 Russian cities.

The summer season at the Northern River Terminalis considered to exceed all the expectations. The park and territories of the Terminal are full of playgrounds, cafes, a swimming pool area, workshops and city events – all of them are located in one place. More than 2 million people have visited this touristic destination. Many guests are sure that the Terminal is one of the best and safest places in Moscow for a family vacation. Besides, this year The Northern River Terminal has received 7 international awards as the best reconstructed terminal and touristic place of interest. 

In August, Moscow authorities have launched a regular motor ship «Moscow-1» which connects the Northern River Terminal with the other side of the Moscow River. Its operation was stopped in 2007 and after 14 years launched again. 

Nowadays, Moscow plans to develop cruise navigation in the city. In 2022 Moscow plans to launch 2 regular electric river boat services. After 16 years, Moscow citizens will get back their beloved water transport. Moreover, this autumn there will be opened the Southern River Terminal after the reconstruction. It will become new tourist attraction and open up newcruise destinations in Russia.
