According to the Moscow Department of Transport, Moscow is going to test a completely new service called MultiTransport. Thanks to it all urban public transport and taxi will be available on a single subscription. Together with VTB bank and Yandex Go, the Moscow Department of Transport invites passengers to take part in testing.
The Department explained that MultiTransport is an innovative MaaS service, which at the first stage will allow using all public transport and taxi (to travel to or from nearest metro, the Moscow Central Circle (MCC) or the Moscow Central Diameters (MCD) stations) on a single subscription in Metro Moscow or Yandex Go mobile apps. The Department also noted that there are plans to include carsharing, scooter, and bicycle rental in the service.
“The Mayor of Moscow has set a task to make the transport infrastructure more accessible and friendly for passengers. To do this, we are implementing the MaaS concept in the city. MultiTransport will be useful for passengers who use public transport but sometimes choose a taxi. With a subscription, people will be able to save up to 10% of their money on fares each month. Flexibility and favorable rates of the service will also attract new users from among motorists who will switch to multimodal trips. This will allow a more even distribution of traffic flows,” said Maksim Liksutov, the Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Transport.
To participate in the testing, a passenger needs a contactless bank card or a smartphone with Apple Pay, Google Pay, the Department added. Now there are three 30-days tariffs, they include an all-in-one pass for unlimited public transport trips and 5, 10, or 20 taxi rides.
