Moscow’s SberTroika will launch cashless payments in Voronezh

According to the Moscow Department of Transport, the SberTroika company (the joint IT enterprise of Sberbank and the Government of Moscow) will launch a system of cashless fare payment in Voronezh (population over 1 million people) this year.

The Moscow Department of Transport explained that passengers will be able to pay fare via the bank card on the stationary equipment in buses on 259 routes. It is planned to develop theticketing system, introduce season tickets and different ratestogether with the Voronezhpassazhirtrans, local operator.

«For the first time in the buses of Voronezh it will be possible to use the bank card on the stationary equipment. It will savepassengers' time when boarding will not distract the driver's attention. In the future, it will be possible to create more optimal routes and transfers, as a result, more people will be able to comfortably and easily use public transport», - said Maksim Liksutov, the Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Transport.

Maksim Liksutov added that Russian transport solutions are implemented within the framework of the national project Digital Economy.

Currently SberTroika has launched a unified ticketing system on the basis of the Troika card in 13 regions of Russia. This makes fare payment in these regions as simple and convenient as in Moscow. In 2021, the project of integrating the Troika card-based ticketing system in the Russian regions won the prestigious international Transport Ticketing Award 2021, where Moscow competed with projects from Singapore and Australia in the Best Smart Ticketing Programme category.
