In 2022 Moscow is going to launch electric buses with electric heaters, said Nikolai Asaul, the General Director of SUE Mosgortrans at the MENA Transport Congress and Exhibition. He announced the development of the innovative control and monitoring system for electric buses and charging stations.
«In the upcoming years, we will continue to actively develop the fleet of electric vehicles, introducing innovative developments into the urban infrastructure and adapting new trends to it. In 2022 we plan to launch electric buses with fully electric heating systems. Thus, the electric bus fleet of Moscow will become 100% eco-friendly. Besides, the city will test innovative control and monitoring systems for electric buses and charging stations. This method of data transmission will allow organizing automatic data collection as well as managing dynamic load distribution and automatically notifying the different services of the city about the incidents,» — said Nikolai Asaul, the General Director of SUE Mosgortrans, the Сhairman of the Eurasia Division and the Vice-President of UITP.
The innovative monitoring system also provides the management of electric buses. It allows to monitor the electric bus as well as its location. Moreover, the system notifies about the charging queue at the charging station. In addition, automatic control allows the distribution of rolling stock on the city routes and generate relevant information about the charging profiles of electric buses.
Referring to the recent projects, in November Moscow started the test of bus-down pantograph that provides contact with the electric bus on the top-down principle. It is located on the charging station, while contact rails are situated on the roof of the electric bus. The pantograph lowers onto the contact rails and charges the vehicle. This kind of innovative technology will lighten the electric bus and reduce the cost of e-buses.
«In general, Moscow sets the trend for modern and eco-friendly surface public transport. Many mechanisms have already begun to be implemented in Russian regions and beyond. We are actively developing sustainable surface public transport so that the quality of life in the city becomes even higher. We will continue to implement electric buses into the ecosystem of the city,» — noted Nikolai Asaul, the General Director of SUE Mosgortrans, the Сhairman of the Eurasia Division and the Vice-President of UITP.
