According to the Moscow Department of Transport, after a number of COVID -19 restrictions were lifted, the Moscow Metro resumed its Music in the Metro project. The first performance by the musicians took place on the International Women's Day.
Music play at more than 30 spots in the Moscow Metro, Moscow Central Circle (MCC) and Moscow Central Diameters(MCD). About 150,000 performances have already taken place since the launch of the project.
This year, by order of Mayor Sergey Sobyanin, the number of sites will increase. We plan to open 5 new ones on the MCC and the Big Circle Line (BCL) in summer to organize the outdoor areas at the North River Terminal and in the Moskva City Business Center, - said Maksim Liksutov, the Deputy Mayor for Transport.
The Deputy Mayor outlined that regardless of any restrictions all Moscow transport will operate daily, and, if necessary,around the clock.
The Moscow Metro serves as a venue for a wide range of projects and events, including musical performances andmarriage ceremonies. The first wedding ceremony in the history of the Metro was held at Mayakovskaya station in August 2021.
