Moscow and Riyadh exchanged experience in transport infrastructure development

The Mayor of Moscow Sergei Sobyanin met with the delegation of the province of Riyadh (Saudi Arabia), headed by the Vice-Governor His Royal Highness Prince Muhammad bin Abdel-Rahman al Saud.

The delegation of the province of Riyadh is in the Russian capital at the invitation of the Government of Moscow. In the framework of the visit, the guests visited the Moscow Traffic Management Center, the Moscow Central Circle, the historic metro stations, the cable car line that connects the Luzhniki Stadium and Vorobievy Gory, the Exhibition of Achievements of National Economy, Zaryadye Park and other places of interst.

Sergei Sobyanin noted that, despite the large distance between Moscow and Riyadh, the capitals of Russia and Saudi Arabia, like all major cities, are very similar. The Mayor of Moscow stressed that both metropolitan areas are equally concerned about the problems of residents' comfort, transportation development, social sphere and environment. All this creates a good basis for cooperation between Moscow and the province of Riyadh.

In turn, His Royal Highness Prince Muhammad bin Abdel-Rahman al Saud said that qualitative changes take place in Saudi Arabia, and therefore the authorities of the province of Riyadh are interested in learning and using the experience of Moscow in the field of transport system development. During the meeting, such topics as park areas improvement, education and health care development, and the provision of public services were discussed.

Diplomatic relations between Moscow and Riyadh are actively developing. Last year, the delegation of Moscow Transport, headed by the Deputy Mayor of Moscow for transport, Maksim Liksutov, visited the capital of Saudi Arabia.
