The Moscow Metro and the Moscow Central Circle passenger flow exceeded 221 million people

And it is an increase of 4.5% if compared to September 2018, – shared the Deputy Mayor of Moscow for transport, Maksim Liksutov.

“We note the steady growth in the number of public transport passengers. Thus, in September 2019, the Moscow Metro and the Moscow Central Circle (MCC) passenger flow exceeded 221 million people, which is 4.5% higher than in September 2018. To make travelling by the MCC more comfortable, we are going to reduce the headway to four minutes at peak hours. It will helps us create additional passenger seats”, – he commented.

Since the beginning of the year, over 1.9 billion passengers used the Moscow Metro, and it is 2.6% more than last year. Today there are more passengers at Lines 1 and 6 and the Large Circle Line (Line 11). Thus, in September 2019 the Large Circle Line passenger flow increased by more than 1 million people and amounted to more than 2.9 million passengers. Lines 6 and 1 had an increase of 957 and 955 thousand passengers, respectively.

According to Maksim Liksutov, in September 2019 Line 7 (27.8 million passengers), Line 2 (26.4 million passengers) and Line 6 (26.3 million passengers) remain the busiest Moscow Metro lines.

Compared to the last year, the number of the MCC passengers increased by 930 thousand – in September 2019 more than 9 million passengers used it for travelling. Since the beginning of the year, the overground metro circle line carried more than 100 million passengers. On a weekday, more than 500 thousand people use it.
