In just four years the number of shared cars in Moscow has grown 250 times
In January-September 2019, car-sharing users in Moscow made more than 36 million rides, which is 1.5 times higher than in 2018.
“More than 36 million rides were made by car-sharing users in 9 month of 2019, and it is 1.5 times more than in the entire 2018. Then only 23 million rides were made. In total, since the launch of the service in 2015, users made more than 66.4 million rides”, – shared the Deputy Mayor of Moscow for transport, Maksim Liksutov.
According to the Deputy Mayor, car-sharing operators regularly increase their fleet, develop flexible tariffs and introduce new services for customers.
“Thanks to flexibility of the service, some citizens refuse to use a personal car in favor of a shared one. As a result, congestion reduces, and drivers save their own money - they don’t need to repair their own cars”, - he added.
Moreover, the total fleet of nine operators equals to 25.2 thousand cars.
“Users choose a car to suit their needs – economy or business class, with a child seat, vans. Some operators offer electric cars, so car sharing contributes to improving the ecology of Moscow”, commented the Deputy Mayor.
“Moscow has become the world-leader in the size of car-sharing fleet. Private companies have become a driver of its growth, investing over 15 billion rubles in the development of the service. The city’s support is also very important, therefore the Government of Moscow will continue to provide benefits for paid parking and subsidies for expanding the park”, - he concluded.
