The closed station turned into a park of street culture, and trains became training rooms for athletes. The event brought together those who love sports and advocate a healthy lifestyle.
The Metro Industrials was the first extreme sports festival in Russia to take place in the metro, where it is impossible to perform sports tricks in normal times. The event was supported by the Department of Transport and Road Infrastructure Development of Moscow, the Moscow Metro and the Committee for Public Relations and Youth Policy of the city of Moscow. The organizers of the festival were Industrials Team and Extreme Team.
The festival was held in a closed format, those who pre-registered and received an invitation from the organizers became participants and spectators of the festival. An interesting quest was developed especially for those invited: to get to the festival venue, participants and spectators of Metro Industries received a road map and a flashlight at the entrance. The competitions themselves were accompanied by a DJ set, lighting and sound effects, which added to the current entertainment.
At the station a climbing wall, a section for cycle freestyle, a platform for martial arts and tricks with a soccer ball were installed. Also, especially for the Metro Industries festival, at the Moscow Metro station, they mounted a climbing wall from scratch, where climbing competitions were held, combining two disciplines: speed and bouldering.
“We are always ready to support youth initiatives, so the Metro is increasingly becoming a platform for conducting fashionable and modern events. In such a bold format, we are doing the event for the first time, of course, given the necessary security requirements. The festival is held under the scrutiny of specialists. Do not forget that at normal times such tricks in the metro are prohibited by the rules. Do not risk repeating this in the metro yourself - it is dangerous for life and health,” – noted Julia Temnikova, the Deputy Head of the Moscow Metro for the customer services development and passenger services.
